Frequently asked questions
Hockey - Player
Does my 5 or 10 pack of hockey sessions expire?
If I buy a 5 pack of sessions, do I need to come 5 weeks in a row?
If you have registered for a program rather than our individual classes, you need to come for consecutive sessions. Our individual classes do not need to be attended in consecutive weeks or classes.
Can my player attend classes with older players, if my player's skill level is high?
To ensure true development players need to stay with their own age group. Our coaches will ensure that each athlete is challenged within the session.
Do you have a skating program?
Every skill session that we run has a high focus on the technical aspect of skating, however we do not presently run a ‘power skating’ program.
My son/daughter just started playing, do you have something to offer for players new to hockey?
We offer classes from the Novice age and up. Our Open Development Stream caters to players of all levels.
Can I just show up to a class without reserving my spot ahead of time?
Our classes are often sold out and we strictly adhere to our class limits in order to ensure the quality of instruction and the experience for our athletes. If you do not reserve your spot ahead of time and just show up, you may not be allowed on the ice.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
You do not require a doctor's referral to be treated by a physiotherapist. However, if you have an extended health care plan, your insurer may require a doctor's referral in order to reimburse you for the physiotherapy treatment.
How long is a treatment?
You can plan for your first assessment and treatment to be approximately one hour long, and follow-up treatments to be approximately 30 minutes of one-on-one time with your physiotherapist. We do not charge by the hour - we charge by the treatment. When a session is slightly longer or shorter in duration we do not alter our fee.
How many treatments does it take to get better?
There is not an easy answer to that question. There are so many factors that feed into the recovery time from an injury or painful condition that everyone’s answer is different. No two problems are the same, because no two people are the same.
However, once we have assessed you and have had some time to see how you respond to treatment, we can give an answer that is realistic and based on your individual factors. The time can range from 2 or 3 treatments to months, depending on your individual factors.
Why do you not treat WSIB claimants?
We do not feel that we can provide appropriate treatment to WSIB claimants. If WSIB claimants were free to book regular assessment and treatment sessions with our facility, we would be happy to help them. Unfortunately, WSIB restricts the clinics that their clients can go to, and is not willing to cover reasonable physiotherapy costs that are necessary to provide high quality physiotherapy services
Are your services covered by OHIP?
As with most physiotherapy clinics in Ontario, we are not eligible to bill OHIP for physiotherapy services. However, almost all extended health plans provide varying amounts of yearly coverage for physiotherapy expenses.
